Popular Southampton Rotary Shred-N-Go an annual success

Once again this year, Southampton Rotary brought back the popular ‘Shred N Go’ on Saturday, April 25th (2026).

The environmentally friendly “drive-through” shredding event closing out “Earth Week”was held from 9.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m. at Rotary Hall in Southampton on a “first-come, first-served” basis.

‘Shred N Go’ is a partnership between Rotary and Wasteco that provides shredding for confidential papers and files so that there is no possibility of identity or financial theft. The waste will then be used in recycled paper products.

Despite chilly morning temperatures, Southampton Rotary volunteers turned out in droves as residents lined up to wait their turn to have their records shredded.

Although there was no charge, a donation of $10 per banker’s box or similar size was suggested. “It’s amazing how many are giving even more than the suggested amount,” said Rotarian Alex Thornburn who greeted drivers as they drove up. “This community is always generous when it comes to donating.”

Funds raised by Rotary go back into community projects, such as the maintenance of Rotary Perkins Park and many others.
