Each year, the Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 puts out a call to its members and guests for Christmas toys, along with the Meridian Credit Union on Goderich Street that also collects toys from its clients.
The toys are then picked up to be sorted by the Iota Phi women’s group before being taken to the Salvation Army for distribution to families.
This year, the SouthPort Ladies Golf also contributed items for the local Salvation Army Food Bank.
“The generosity of the community is always amazing,” said Rhonda Harrison of the Legion Executive.
