Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 holds D-Day commemoration ceremony

Although it was a small crowd, it was a moving ceremony as Port Elgin Legion Branch 340 held an 80th D-Day commemoration ceremony on June 6th (2024) at Port Elgin Cenotaph.

Past-president, Dan Kelly, laid a wreath in memory of those service men who died in the invasion of the allied troops at Normandy, France in World War II.

Among those in attendance was Legion Branch member, Glenna Snider.  Snider and her husband Rob donated a bench with plaque in memory of each of their fathers who had served in Canada’s military.
