Portion of Brant Tract temporarily closing for timber harvesting operations

A portion of the Bruce County Brant Tract, located northwest of Walkerton, and southeast of Paisley, will be closed to the public for approximately four months for commercial forest harvesting operations, beginning in early March.

Timber sales and sustainable harvesting are part of Bruce County’s normal business practices and active forest management helps to maintain a healthy forest environment.

This portion of Brant Tract, located at Concession 15, Part Lots 1 & 2 in the northwest corner of the property, between Concession 14 West and the Brant Elderslie Townline, a total area of 50.6 hectares (125 acres), will be closed until the end of June 2023.

Please note that the section of the Bruce County Rail Trail that is adjacent to this property’s western boundary will not be affected and will remain open.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. Bruce County apologizes for any inconveniences that this closure causes. This harvesting work will benefit our forest’s health in the long term.

Questions, concerns, or comments about these operations can be directed to Kevin Predon, RPF, Bruce County’s Forestry Technician, at 226-909-2840 or kpredon@brucecounty.on.ca.
