On behalf of their businesses, Roote’s Gas Bar and Top Shelf Dispensary, Randal (Randy) and Brenda Roote and family, have donated generously throughout the year and, once again, in this holiday season, they continue to help the community.
As Randy Roote was not feeling well’, it was up to Brenda to get the donations out and her first stop on Tuesday, December 17th, was at Saugeen First Nation Administration building. There she presented two donations on behalf of the Roote family and businesses.
Saugeen First Nation Food Bank received $2,500 from Roote’s Gas Bar and another $2,500 from Top Shelf Dispensary, and the Toy Drive campaign also received the same amounts, for a total of $10,000.

From Saugeen First Nation, it was on to the Salvation Army Food Bank in Port Elgin, where Brenda also presented another $5,000 from the Gas Bar and an additional $5,000 from Top Shelf Dispensary.

“Randy and I and our family believe in giving back to the community because we can,” said Brenda Roote.
The Rootes earlier in the year gave $10,000 to G. C. Huston Public School for its new playground equipment and, on December 12th, they donated another $10,000 to the local Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation during the annual Radiothon fundraising day.
The giving doesn’t end there however, as the Roote family will also be handing out 500 turkeys on Friday, December 20th, to customers, 250 in the morning at 9:00 a.m. and another 250 at 5:00 p.m. “It’s our way of saying thank you to our customers for their support through the year,” says Randy Roote.
“Our family wants to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and healthy, safe and prosperous New Year.”
