Santa’s parades change it up with ‘Winter Nights and Christmas Lights’

Due to COVID-19, to ensure social distancing, the Saugeen Shores Santa Claus Parades are turning upside down — or more aptly “reversed.” The “reversed” Santa Claus Parades will feature a stationary display of floats and vehicles lined up. Spectators will drive-thru to view the floats and vehicles. This year’s theme is “Winter Nights and Christmas Lights”.

November 28:  Port Elgin, Bruce St (entering at Devonshire Rd and exiting at Joseph St)  Time: 7:00 pm

December 4:  Southampton, Victoria St (entering at Clarendon St and exiting at High St) Time: 7:00 pm

We hope you will join us, as we bring holiday cheer to our community. Due to health and safety, no pedestrian spectators will be allowed for this drive-thru only event. Spectators are asked to drive slowly, use caution, stay in their vehicle and follow the directions of parade volunteers along the drive-thru route. The general rules for participating in the parade and a mandatory participation waiver are available at www.saugeenshoreshamber.ca.

The Saugeen Shores Santa Claus Committee has been working closely with Grey Bruce Public Health, Saugeen Shores Police and the Town of Saugeen Shores to ensure the safety of all participants and spectators. A mailbox for letters to Santa will be on hand and Thorncrest Outfitters will be collecting donations to the local Food Bank. Thank you to Bruce Power for their support in upgrading Santa’s sleigh.
