Saugeen Shores Rotary Classic Golf raises funds for health and fitness

The Rotary Club of Saugeen Shores recently held its annual Golf Classic FUNdraising tournament on August 22nd (2025).
The tournament held at Westlinks Golf & County Club had several sponsors, including Barry’s Construction as Title Sponsor, and was a sold-out event with approximately 70 golfers who hit the links.
The day began with the traditional ‘ball toss’ before everyone headed out to the course.

Following the full day on the links, golfers and their guests attended dinner along with a silent and live auction carried out by guest auctioneer Bill Walker.

Guest Speaker, Gord Lamont, President of the Sr. Men’s WOAA Winterhawks hockey team, quoted the well-known saying … “It takes a village to raise a child’, but who is the village?  For starters, it is the three Rotary Clubs in Saugeen Shores.  With over 35,000 clubs world-wide and 85 years in Saugeen Shores, Rotary has been very active in the community with many fundraisers.  They are ordinary people who do a lot of work and give a lot to their community.  Their motto of ‘Service Above Self’ makes our ‘village’ a better place … people who coach and organize sports activities, who mentor kids and welcome them into our world and surround them with love, and teachers who teach our children right from wrong.”
Although a final total raised is to be determined, proceeds will be going toward the new Saugeen Shores Aquatic & Wellness Centre (AWC) and Rotary’s commitment to Lamont Sports Park.
