SB Dance Academy dancers win top awards

What a season for The SB (Sandra Belanger) Dance Academy from Port Elgin!

They completed their competition season this past weekend, taking home the “Top Studio” award at a competition held at the Deerhurst Resort in Huntsville.

The overall award was the result of the studio achieving numerous top five results in the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior categories in multiple dance styles including jazz, contemporary, lyrical, acro and hip hop.

Highest Score of the Day – Senior Jazz Group – “Vogue” (Addison Kaake, Addison Hoffman, Alivea Vance, Aarelyn Wade, Amellea Deschambeault-Havaris, Gabby Vance, Olivia Austin, Lyndsey VanSickle, Madison Playter, Poppy Munro)

  • Intermediate Solos – 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Overall (Olivia Austin – Open, Gabby Vance – Acro, Kaelynn O’Brien – Acro, Sophia Tsatsos – Open)
  • Intermediate Duets/Trios – 1st Overall (Olivia Austin, Gabby Vance – Acro)
    Senior Solos – 2nd & 4th Overall (Poppy Munro – Contemporary, Lyndsey VanSickle – Acro)
  • Choreography of the Session Award – “Let It All Go” (Lindsay Ross)

This competition was the final of a season that saw the team compete and win numerous awards at competitions in Mississauga (Kick It Up), Collingwood (Dance Canada), Collingwood (Bedazzled), and Huntsville (Xtreme Dance Champions).

The season will wrap up with a fun night of dance at the annual recital at 6:30 pm on May 6th at Saugeen District Secondary School. Members of the public are welcome!
