Despite a fall that had Jane McAllister on crutches, she still had two reasons to smile.  The first, because it was the day before her birthday on June 21st and the second because she had organized the second annual golf tournament in support of Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario, and it was again a sold-out event.

The charity event was held at Westlinks Golf & Country Club in Saugeen Shores with 96 golfers hitting the fairways for a day of scramble golf, along with families who had used the services of Ronald McDonald House.

Carol Ann d’Andrea donated her award winning butter tarts that raised $400 at auction

The day featured a lunch, shot-gun start at noon and dinner after golfing.

A silent auction featured a wide variety of donated items and a live auction, with auctioneer Len Metcalfe, raised even more funds for Ronald McDonald house.

“It never ceases to amaze me how supportive this community is,” said McAllister.  “It sold out right away and the sponsorship from businesses and individuals has once again been incredible.”

Last year’s inaugural event (2024) raised $60,000 for Ronald McDonald House.  “We were concerned this year, given the upheaval that’s taking place around tariffs and everything else, but it is amazing. We were hoping to meet last year’s goal and instead we surpassed it and raised $75,000!”
