Southampton High Street construction delayed

According to the town of Saugeen Shores update, High Street reconstruction in Southampton, originally targeted for completion by the end of September, is now expected to be finalized in mid-October (weather dependent).

The new schedule is the result of several contributing factors that include:

  • Additional work to address deficiencies in the existing water infrastructure
  • Supply chain challenges affecting the delivery of interlocking brick
  • Extra work needed to fix several basement coal chute window openings
  • Weather-related impacts (rain days).

This week, the Contractor will be pouring curb on the north side of High Street between Grosvenor and Albert Streets.

Base asphalt paving in this area is anticipated by early next week. Once the asphalt is in place, the Contractor will begin forming and installing the sidewalk within the boulevard on the north side.

On the south side of High Street, crews will continue placing interlocking brick within the boulevard, working eastward toward Victoria Street.
