Special Olympic bowler brings home Provincial medals

Special Olympics Spring Provincial Games held in Kitchener-Waterloo on the last weekend of May (2024) welcomed over 750 athletes from across Ontario.

Local athlete, Curtis Button, proved his prowess against 170 10-pin bowlers when he earned three bronze medals in the team, doubles with his partner Brian and a high aggregate score for nine games.

Button, who lives in Saugeen Shores, bowls for the Owen Sound Avalanche out of the the bowling alley in Owen Sound, and this was his first Provincial Games.

Perhaps a good luck charm for Button was Saugeen Shores Canine Police Officer, Riker, who went along as a mascot.
