In its search for community artists and Residential School Survivors, the Minjimendaamin Ad Hoc Committee of Saugeen First Nation has selected the first Indian Residential School (IRS) Memorial Design to be unveiled on July 20th.
The unveiling is the completion of Phase One, ‘A Memorial for Saugeen IRS Attendees with names.’ Following direction, future phases will continue with support of the community.
Everyone is invited to attend the unveiling when a full explanation of the artwork created by Treasa Roote will be given. The ceremony will take place at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 20th, at the James Mason Centre with a feast to follow at 5:00 p.m.
