STFC athletes prove again they belong to a small but mighty club

Twenty-seven members of the Saugeen Track and Field Club (STFC) travelled to the University of Windsor  to compete for the Athletics Ontario (AO) U14/U16/U18 Track and Field Championships on August 2nd – 4th.

The Championships involved the top track and field athletes from over 100 clubs across the Province.

STFC returned home with the Midget (U16) Overall Championship and were second in the Youth (U18) division. This is an amazing accomplishment from a small rural club competing against all the big centres across the province.

Saugeen athletes combined for 24 medals – 10 gold, 11 silver and 3 bronze. In addition, 30 personal best performances and 8 STFC Age Class Records were also recorded over the weekend competition.

Michelle Van Stuyvenberg set an AO Meet Record and an Athletics Ontario U15 record in the Midget Girls 3k Hammer with a 48.85m launch.
