Students Trek To The Winter Olympics While Raising Money For Their Schools
Another exciting Rotary Winterama wrapped up in local schools on Tuesday, March 10th(2026).
Eight local schools were issued a challenge by the Rotary clubs of Southampton, Tara and Port Elgin … ‘If all of their winter activity kilometres were added together, could our Winterama team make it to Milano, Italy, by the end of the Winter Olympics?”
The team DID IT and raised $14,000 for their schools throughout their trek.
Students raise thousands of pledge dollars for their schools, to help their nutrition programs and to fund special projects within their schools. Generous donors continue to encourage these Winterama students toward their February fitness goals and toward the important life lesson of giving back to their communities.
The top funraising class in each school won its own recess activity bucket, provided by Winterama organized by local Rotary clubs. Each bucket contains a large variety of play equipment to keep students active at recesses. The top pledge earner in each school also earned a $25 cash prize and the top four pledge earners in all of Winterama earned bigger cash prizes from Rotary.
