Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) drama and music students are about to undertake one of the major musicals of the Broadway and film genres – The Music Man by Meredith Wilson.
This is a fast-paced musical both in dialogue, singing and dancing and, having sat in on the dress rehearsal finale on Monday, May 27th, I can only say … I thought I was at the very least, at Stratford.
The costumes, orchestrations and singing rival a professional production.
This is a production that should not be missed and it begins tomorrow, Wednesday May 29th at 7:00 p.m. at SDSS in Port Elgin and continues with evening performances through Saturday, June 1st (with a special afternoon matinee on Saturday).
To see what these students and musicians accomplish is to understand how important music programs are to education and to the growth of young people when it comes to a rounded education.
