Saugeen Shores 2026 Tour of Gardens on July 11th featured seven of the area’s beautiful gardens as a fundraiser for Huron Shores Hospice.
Homeowners opened their gardens, each unique in design and features. From large open spaces to intimate yards, each garden reflected the owner’s interest and passion in gardening.
Kelly McDonald & Gary Karst Garden
A sweeping landscape of some five acres features pockets of gardens filled with plantings. Lillies, bee balm, roses, Hydranga, Blue Spruce and a Japanese Maple have all found their home under the owner’s love of gardening. “There is no pattern or design,” says McDonald. “I just love plants and, if I see one I like, i get it and then figure out where I can put it.” McDonald has been creating the gardens for 34 years

Butterflyway Garden – Jubilee Park
The Saugeen Shores Butterfly Way Project, part of the David Suzuki Foundation national initiative, has introduced a pollinator garden to the existing gardens in Jubilee Park. The garden has been designed to inspire and educate visitors of all age about the value that pollinator gardens have in nature. The garden features native plants and shrubs. Terry Wilson and Nancie Darlington-Smith head up the Butterflyway program and were on-hand to answer questions from visitors wanting to learn about pollinator gardens.
