Warden Kevin Marriot of Lambton County and Vice Chair of the Western Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (WOWC), issued a statement saying that the WOWC expresses its ongoing support for the Government of Ontario and the Government of Canada as it works to navigate the challenges posed by tariffs and other trade restrictions.
“The WOWC recognizes that these barriers create significant challenges for industries that are vital to our region’s economic stability, job creation, and long-term prosperity,” says Marriot.
“Our communities in Western Ontario thrive when we work together, and supporting our local producers, manufacturers, and farmers is critical to ensuring continued growth and sustainability. The WOWC will remain a vocal advocate for solutions that protect our industries and communities, as we are committed to working with all levels of government to safeguard our region’s economic future,” he added.
He went on to say that, “Western Ontario’s strength comes from our ability to adapt and respond as a region, and the WOWC remains dedicated to partnering with all stakeholders to ensure our communities remain strong and resilient.”
The WOWC is a not-for-profit organization representing 15 upper and single-tier municipalities in Southwestern Ontario, representing more than 1.6 million residents. It aims to enhance the prosperity and overall wellbeing of rural and small urban communities across the region. Caucus members work collectively to influence federal and provincial legislation and programs through advocacy, research, analysis and education.
