If you would like to be part of the Poppy campaign you can could sign up in the clubroom downstairs, or email Legion President Matt Patterson at matthew.patterson55@gmail.com with your availability during the campaign.
NOTE: You do not have to be a Legion member to volunteer to be part of the Poppy campaign.
Beginning in 2026, the Royal Canadian Legion has established a permanent annual launch date for the National Poppy Campaign from October 24 to November 11. This standardized timeframe maximizes you, our supporters, the opportunity to join and support the campaign.
How Poppy Canvassing Works:
• Location Shifts: Canvassers typically volunteer for 2-hour shifts standing or sitting at the entrances of high-traffic local businesses like grocery stores, coffee shops, and retail centres.
• Collection: They carry official poppy trays and donation boxes. Modern campaigns also utilize tap-to-donate electronic boxes for contact-free or cashless contributions.
• Where Funds Go: 100% of the donations collected by canvassers go directly into regional Poppy Trust Funds. These funds provide financial aid, housing solutions, mobility equipment, and medical or mental health care for local veterans and their families.
