Letter to the Editor: Questioning Moderator is unfair, incorrect and unaccountable says reader

To the Editor:

I wanted to take a moment to express my thoughts on the recent article by Sandy Lindsay regarding the Moderator’s role at the United Housing for All, as well as the social media posts circulating by Micheline Mann campaigning for Brian Putman.

I must say, it truly frustrates me to see the amount of dedication and effort that Catherine Dianne Mini Jacques (Mini) has put into our community over the years being called into question. Her integrity and commitment are evident to those of us who have witnessed her contributions firsthand.

Mini has dedicated nearly 40 years to community service, including: Accessibility Advisory Committee, housing initiatives, Chantry Island Chambettes, and many more. She also received the Paul Harris Fellow Award from the Southampton Rotary Club in 2025 which shows a great deal about her commitment to our community.

I believe it is important to discuss integrity itself. The very act of questioning Mini’s integrity reflects poorly on your ability to assess character. Integrity means being honest, consistent, accountable, fair, and humble. The attack on Mini has been unfair, incorrect and unaccountable based on her volunteer commitments and hard work for years!

It is disheartening to witness a campaign that cherry picks information and creates divisiveness and as this messaging is coming from a campaign organizer for Brian Putman, it brings to mind the old saying, “you are the company you keep.” Someone running for mayor is responsible for setting the tone for anyone representing him or her, and a campaign organizer’s words reflect on the mayoral candidate’s leadership.

Kristi McKenna
