People began to line up early on Christmas Eve at Maple Square Mall in Port Elgin for the 7th annual Christmas turkey dinner.
Provided by Pier Donnini of the Queen’s Bar & Grill and served by many volunteers, the annual event means a traditional Christmas dinner for those who, for whatever reason, may not have one or who simply want to socialize on Christmas Eve.

“I look forward to this every year,” said one senior lady in line. “I don’t have any family here so this is a real treat every Christmas.”
Donnini said that 12 30-lb. turkeys were cooked along with 500 lbs. of potatoes and gallons of gravy. Some 250 full dinners were delivered to Saugeen First Nation on Monday, December 23rd and another 215 take-outs were delivered Christmas Eve day within Saugeen Shores. “We expect to serve another 150 here tonight,” he said.
