Bruce County declares State of Emergency

Bruce County Warden Mitch Twolan has officially declared a state of emergency in response to COVID-19.

ā€œThe decision to declare a state of emergency is not taken lightly,ā€ says Twolan. ā€œBruce County is being proactive in our fight against COVID-19 to protect the health and safety of individuals, families.ā€

Declarations of emergency are made under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act when an emergency requires immediate action to prevent, reduce or mitigate a danger of major proportions.

Twolan adds: ā€œBruce County will now have additional tools and resources to coordinate and mobilize quickly. We will also have the flexibility to re-deploy staff, if required. I want to emphasize that this is a precautionary step at the time. None of these actions are necessary now.ā€

Bruce County urges asks all residents to stay home, to practice physical distancing, and to practice proper hygiene protocols outlined by the Provincial Medical Officer of Health: https://www.ontario.ca/page/2019-novel-coronavirus.
