Music plays a key role in Southampton summers

On the last summer Sunday of June (June 29) in Southampton, the air was filled with music.

It began with the Chantry Singers and their Summer Music Extravaganza held at Southampton United Church. where the acoustics are almost perfect.

From Leonard Cohen’s ‘Hallelujah’ to the ancient Scottish Annie Laurie and ‘Watching the Apples Grow’ by Canada’s Stan Rogers, the audience enjoyed a wide range of musical selections.

That same evening, the warm weather was ideal as the  Southampton Concert Band under the direction of John Wills performed at scenic Fairy Lake in the heart of Southampton.
