On Sunday, September 7th, more than 30 family and community members and volunteers came out to take part in the annual Walk for Parkinson’s held at North Shore Park in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores).

Walkers enjoyed the beautiful pathways through the recently revitalized North Shore Park in Port Elgin (Saugeen Shores).
The Walk included participants from both Saugeen Shores and the Municipality of Kincardine and beyond. All the funds raised go to help provide mental, physical, and emotional supports and to continue to provide local support groups, exercise programs, and referral services for those with Parkinson’s.
Parkinson’s is the fastest growing neurological disease in the world. A complex disoder it progressively impact not just motor function, but also non-motor aspects and is caused by the degeneration of dopamine-producing cells in the brain.

Every year, retired Pastor, Bob Cote, also takes part in the Walk.
In addition, among the walkers this year, was Team Lar-Bear with 11 family members from Saugeen Shores, Waterloo and Toronto.
Funds raised go toward not only research but also local programming.
