The first sign of winter arrived as snow squalls streamed across Lake Huron to the Port Elgin shoreline today, November 10th (2025).
Everyone living on the shores of the Great Lakes is familiar with the ‘gales of November’ that are notorious for bringing wintry weather and Lake Huron is no exception.
Today, November 10th, is also the 50th anniversary of the famous Edmund Fitzgerald, the Great Lakes freighter that was taken by a November storm on Lake Superior and sank with all aboard. It is a piece of Canadian history that the great storyteller and musician, Gordon Lighfoot made famoue with his song … The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
