The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation is celebrating another incredible ‘Light the Way Radiothon’ on its 10th Anniversary and would like to thank the people of Saugeen Shores and surrounding communities for coming together to support local healthcare.
This year’s Radiothon, hosted on 97.9 The Bruce, raised an impressive $200,000 to support four digital systems that are essential to patient care; including pacemaker monitoring, patient and bed movement and digital imaging.
For 12 hours, listeners tuned in, shared stories, made pledges and showed just how much local healthcare matters in our region.
“We are so grateful to everyone who picked up the phone, went online, or dropped by in person to give,” said Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation. “Radiothon is much more than a fundraiser. It is a day where our community’s love for its hospital and the Brightshores health system is on full display, and that translates directly into better care close to home.”
We would like to thank 97.9 The Bruce and their on-air team and behind the scenes staff for dedicating a full day of programming to highlight patient stories, healthcare workers, volunteers and donors.
“97.9 The Bruce helps us tell the stories that connect people’s hearts to their hospital,” added Murray. “Their enthusiasm and energy on the air create the momentum that makes Radiothon such a special day for our community.”
We would also like to thank Bruce Telecom for generously providing the Radiothon phone lines once again, making it easy for callers to make their gifts and share messages of support.
“Whether it was $20 dollars, $200 dollars or $2,000 dollars, every gift is part of this success,” said Martha Bennett, Foundation Board Chair “Together, our community helped ensure that our hospitals can continue to invest in the equipment and technology that teams rely on every day to care for patients
“Our gratitude extends to every volunteer and supporter who helped bring Radiothon to life. This is truly a community effort, and we are honoured to be the bridge between local generosity and quality local healthcare,” said Murray.
