In a world where employers and job seekers should be finding it easier to connect, there is much speculation about whether it’s working well. Some companies have used external companies that scan through resumes and cover letters looking for key words or experiences. This can often lead to a perfect candidate being screened out of a perfect job pairing by AI. There has been much speculation as to whether AI has been of actual value.
“In addition, there is fragmentation in the online job search engine space,”says Jon Fee Executive Director Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce. “Employers and employees can often invest heavily into these platforms. The platforms want to appear as producing, so resumes sift in from all over the globe and can make the process more of a challenge and more expensive than than it should be. Those companies are from all around the world as well. I believe ‘Indeed’ is located in Dublin.”
Last year (2025) the Chamber Job and Career Fair was highly successful measured by the fact that the employers feedback was positive. “They were able to get quality employees from the event. Employees were able to find employers and hundreds of people came to the event,” says Fee.
This year’s event is once again geared to all ages. Perhaps you are looking for a career, second career, part time, full time, seasonal, retirement job, long term, short term … All the options are there.
Fee points out that what really makes a Job and Career Fair special is that both employers and employees get a face to face opportunity to meet and greet. “You can personally hand your resume to the human resources representative, or even the employer themselves.”
The Saugeen Shores Chamber of Commerce presents this opportunity for anyone in the region looking for employment.
“We encourage people to come out and meet employers and job service representatives face to face. It’s an excellent opportunity in a world that at times seems to lack human connections. Bring your resumes and a great attitude,” says Fee.
It’s free to the public and supported in part by the County of Bruce and the Town of Saugeen Shores.
