THE BATTLE – The Ultimate curling challenge is proud to announce that CANADA’S OLYMPIC GOLD MEDAL PARALYMPIC WHEELCHAIR CURLING TEAM will make a special appearance at the event proudly supported by the Curling Group, with coaches Mick Lizmore and Dana Ferguson:

  • Skip Mark Ideson from London, Ontario;
  • Third Jon Thurston from Dunsford, Ontario;
  • Second Ida Forrest from Spallumcheen, BC;
  • Lead Colinda Joseph from Ottawa, Ontario;
  • Fifth Gilbert Dash from Kipling, Saskatchewan.

It has also been announced that this event will be a CASHLESS EVENT. (debit and credit card only)

The team will make a special appearance on Friday evening in the ‘Friday evening doubles’ games and will also be available at select times throughout the weekend to meet the fans in attendance.

The three-day ‘Battle’ event, sponsored by Bruce Power and presented by Holiday Inn Express and Suites of Port Elgin, and that will be held September 25th, 26th, and 27th, is actually two events in one.

First Event:  The Battle featuring the teams that represented Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy – Gold medal team Brad Jacobs and Bronze medal Team Rachel Homan. Friday evening, September 25th, will be doubles curling. Saturday evening, September 26th, is a Skins game.

The final on Sunday afternoon, September 26th, is regular curling with a few twists thrown in for fun.

Second Event: A bucket list Curling Camp [which is now SOLD OUT] will see 80 curlers of all experience levels have the opportunity for on-ice and off-ice instruction from some of the top curlers in the country, including Glenn Howard, Jill Officer and, of course, members of both Team Homan and Team Jacobs. It is one of the most unique curling camps ever held as participants will experience arena ice, just as they see on television.

Fans will also be able to watch the event on several platforms including Facebook, the radio Rock Channel, and other potential outlets to be confirmed.
