THE BATTLE – THE ULTIMATE CURLING CHALLENGE IS PROUD TO ANNOUNCE THAT FANS WILL BE ABLE TO WATCH THE EVENT FROM THE COMFORT OF THEIR OWN HOME. Since weekend passes are SOLD OUT organizers have ensured that fans will be able to watch live. Fans can tune to Rockchannel.com, CBC Gem, CBCSports.ca, and the CBC YouTube channel.
It has also been announced that this event will be a CASHLESS EVENT. Credit and debit machines will be readily available.
The three-day event, sponsored by Bruce Power and presented by Holiday Inn Express and Suites, will be held September 25, 26, and 27 of 2026 but is two events in one.
The Curling Camp is SOLD OUT. Eighty curlers of all experience levels will have the opportunity for on ice and off ice instruction from some of the top instructors in the country including members of both Team Homan and Team Jacobs. It is one of the most unique curling camps ever held as participants will experience arena ice, just like they see on television.
The three-day Battle will feature the teams that represented Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milano Cortina, Italy. Bronze medalists Team Rachel Homan and Gold medalists Team Brad Jacobs. Friday evening September 25 will be doubles curling. Saturday evening September 26 is a Skins game. Then the final on Sunday afternoon September 27 is regular curling. A special appearance will be made on Friday evening by the Canadian Paralympic Gold Medal Wheelchair Curling Team. They will participate in the Friday evening doubles games and then be available at select times throughout the weekend to meet fans.

Devin Heroux – Devin Heroux’s Award-winning journalism, now spanning nearly two decades, recently earned him the King Charles III Coronation Medal, given to Canadians who have made significant contribution to their country and home abroad. Originally from
Saskatoon, Devin was first captivated by the Olympic Winter Games while watching Sandra Schmirler win gold at Nagano in 1998. Now based in Toronto, he is a cross-platform reporter for CBC Sports and News covering the Olympics, Paralympics and beyond. As a veteran reporter Devin Heroux covered his fifth consecutive Olympic and Paralympic Games for CBC in Milano and Cortina this past winter.

Coach – Mick Lizmore – Currently head coach of the Canadian National Paralympic Curling program that won gold this past year in Italy. Won the 2016 Canadian Mixed Curling championship. Played for such notable skips as Brendan Botcher, Mark Kean and Scott MacDonald. Biggest accomplishment was marrying Sarah Wilkes.
Lori Eddy – 4 Scotties appearances representing Nunavut and Ontario. Played in the 2013 Olympic Trials in Winnipeg. Coached Team Armstrong this past season to an Ontario Scotties Championship. An instructor at the Camp this week.
Kate Hagen – Played competitively with Sherry Middaugh and Colleen Jones. Worked at curling camps across Canada and Europe. Coach of the Saugeen District Senior School
Curling program. Member of the Port Elgin Curling Club. An instructor at the camp this week.
Maurice Wilson – Coached at 30 provincial championships at various levels. He is a Master Coach Developer for Curling Canada. Won the Asham Ontario Junior Coach of the Year award in 2003 and 2004. Named Canadian University Coach of the Year in 2011 and 2012. As a coach at Laurier his teams won back-to-back National Championships and gold at the International Curling Championship in Karuizawa, Japan. He is the head instructor at the Camp this week and a member of the Port Elgin Curling Club.
