A busy time for local Foodland

It is shaping up to be a busy summer for Southampton Foodland.

Huron-Bruce MPP and Minister of Rural Affairs, Lisa Thompson, recently stopped by Southampton Foodland to present the Silver Merit Award for supporting local producers.

Then, as June began, Foodland staff were busy making up ‘Refreshment Goodie Bags’ for Southampton Rotary Club’s ‘Swing Into Summer Golf Tournament’ held on June 5th at Southampton Golf Club.

Next on the roster is the annual Summer BBQ tomorrow, Friday June 13th.  From 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. there will be delicious hot dogs hot off the grill.  All proceeds from the BBQ will go to PRANCE, the therapeutic equestrienne riding centre dedicated to the growth and development of individuals with intellectual, physical and emotional disabilities through experiences with horses.

Then there is the ever-popular Lobster Fest on the August long weekend.  For more than 25 years, Southampton Foodland has brought in fresh Maritime lobster and new owner, Liz Graham is continuing the tradition. “The staff will cook your lobster for you while you sit and relax and listen to live entertainment.  It’s definitely a high-light of the summer,” says Graham.
