“The Gran Fondo Lake Huron will be extra special this summer,” says Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation Board Chair, Stacey Catalano.
The Hospital Foundation is excited to announce that Bruce Power has committed to meet matching funds raised by cyclists in this year’s Gran Fondo Lake Huron, up to $100,000.
“Bruce Power is a long-time supporter of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation (SMHF) and is proud to support the campaign to bring a new CT scanner to the hospital in Saugeen Shores,” said Mike Rencheck, Bruce Power President & CEO. “This project is important to both the hospital and the community, and we encourage local organizations and community members to provide support where they can.”
“We are so tremendously grateful for Bruce Power’s support and their generous gift that will not only help inspire riders in this year’s event to fundraise, but also encourage people in the community to register to ride or donate to a cyclist riding in the Gran Fondo this summer. Funds raised from this year’s Gran Fondo Lake Huron, presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers will go toward the CT scanner which is a vital project, not only for the people and businesses in Saugeen Shores but one that will benefit all of Bruce County,” says Foundation Executive Director, Tracy Murray.
The $3 million CT campaign launched in late October and fundraising now sits at $2.4 million, not including the announcement of Bruce Power’s donation at the Gran Fondo this August. The goal for this year’s cycling event is to fundraise $250,000 for the CT.
The annual Foundation’s Gran Fondo fundraising event sold out the last time it was live in 2019, with 1,000 cyclists taking part.
With three distance routes to choose from, a catered BBQ lunch afterward along with many prizes to be won, the Gran Fondo Lake Huron offers something for riders of all skill levels and is a great family FUNdraising event to enjoy on a summer weekend.
