Behind the scenes at Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation 10th Anniversary Radiothon

While the weather outside was frightful, inside at the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation’s 10th annual Radiothon fundraiser held on Thursday, December 11th at 97.9theBruce radio station in Port Elgin, all was delightful.

The fundraiser was both a call-in and drop-in affair with pledges from throughout the community for the local hospital.

While many chose to call in their donations to volunteers on the phones, despite a wintry day with blowing snow, many others managed to present their donations in person.

Bruce Power once again started the FUNdraiser off with a major donation presented by John Peevers, Director of Communications, followed by the Chantry Island Cham-bettes with a donation from their annual Christmas Tour of Homes.

Throughout the day-long event, donors, including businesses and individuals, kept dropping by the station with their donations.

Still others dropped by not only with their donations but, seemingly, for the fun of it with many having the chance to ‘go on air’ with DJs Brian Longmire and Mike Brough.

Before the FUNdraising day came to a close, Santa took the time to drop by and enjoy some cookies.

The 2025 Radiothon fundraiser for Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, thanks to the generosity of the community, raised some $200,000 which will go toward hospital equipment to enhance patient care.
