Breakers Swim Team Shines at Fall Classic

The Port Elgin Breakers Swim Team participated at the 2019 Fall Classic Swim Meet hosted by the Orangeville Otters at the Markham Pan AM Complex, October 26th and 27th.

There were six teams competing with approximately 325 swimmers. The Breakers were represented by seven senior swimmers.

The team finished with an impressive Top 10 finish in 40 different events. All seven swimmers brought home at least 3 top 10 finishes as well as one or more Personal Best (PB) times.

In the 13 year old male age group, Matthew Bull brought home a medal and a PB time in every event he swam. Matthew’s accomplishments include, 1st in 50m Backstroke. He placed 2nd in 100m Breaststroke, 100m Individual Medley, 200m Backstroke, 50m Freestyle, 200m Freestyle, and 100m Freestyle. He topped it off with a 3rd in the 100m Backstroke.

In the 15 year old male age group, Brady Phillips finished with four PB times and placed 3rd in 50m Backstroke, 4th in 800m Freestyle, 5th in the 50m Breaststroke, 6th in 200m Freestyle, and 7th place finishes in 100m Breaststroke, and 50m Freestyle.

In the 15 year old female age group Breakers saw our three senior swimmers bring home 12 top 10 finishes and 16 PB times.

Aurora Jacobi finished 5th in the 800m Freestyle, 7th in the 400m Freestyle, 8th place in the 100m Individual Medley, and the 200m Freestyle.

Hannah Kent finished 2nd in the 1500m Freestyle, 7th in the 50m Backstroke, and 9th in the 200m Backstroke.

Michelle Wang finished 1st in 50m Butterfly, 2nd in 200m Butterfly, and received 3rd place finishes in the 50m Backstroke, 100m Individual Medley, and 50m Freestyle.

In the 16 and Over male age group, Jayson Horseman and Zachary McEwen brought home 12 top 10 finishes, and 12 PB times.

Zachary McEwen finished 1st in 50m Butterfly, 2nd in 800m Freestyle, 5th in 200m Backstroke, 8th in the 100m Backstroke, 9th in the 50m Freestyle, and 100m Freestyle events, as well as 10th in the 200m Individual Medley.

Jayson Horseman finished 1st in 50m Breaststroke, and 100m Breaststroke, 2nd in the 100m Individual Medley, and 200m Breaststroke, 3rd in 400m Freestyle, and a 4th place finish in the 50m Freestyle event.

The Breakers will be competing later this month at the McDonald’s Team Challenge, November 16th and 17th in Owen Sound.
