Bruce County brings key perspectives to Regional Long Term Care Roundtable

On March 3, 2023, Bruce County’s Director of Long Term Care & Senior Services, Megan Garland, brought key perspectives to a regional Long Term Care Roundtable session in Blyth, Ontario.

Also participating in the LTC Roundtable discussion was the Hon. Lisa Thompson (MPP Huron-Bruce), Hon. Paul Calandra (Minister of Long-Term Care), and various Long Term Care operators from Huron and Bruce Counties.

A variety of topics impacting Long Term Care were discussed in this roundtable session, including agency staff, the human resources crisis in healthcare, the Personal Support Worker program, Resident Support Aid positions, funding, Nurse Practitioners, and innovation in technology that supports high quality care.

Bruce County proudly operates two Long Term Care Homes – Gateway Haven located in Wiarton, Ontario and Brucelea Haven located in Walkerton, Ontario. These homes provide quality services to the residents and their families. Both Gateway Haven and Brucelea Haven operate as municipal homes, and the not-for-profit structure allows for a level of care that is of exceptional quality while also being transparent in operation and accountability.
