Bruce County long-term care thanks placement Students and Staff Mentors

Bruce County Long Term Care and Senior Services showed appreciation for all the students who have recently completed, or are completing, their co-op and clinical placements at the County’s long term care homes in Walkerton and Wiarton.

The County also recognized staff members who shared their knowledge and offered mentorship to the placement students. In celebration, events on August 13th at Brucelea Haven and August 14th at Gateway Haven, the long term care teams enjoyed delicious pastries and coffee from the visiting BeaverTails truck.

“We express our sincere appreciation and thanks to our valuable student colleagues. They have done outstanding work supporting residents and families. We look forward to seeing them continue their future careers in long term care here in Bruce County,” said Director Megan Garland. “Thank you also to the amazing Brucelea Haven and Gateway Haven staff who acted as mentors and preceptors for our placement students. You have shared your professional expertise and your passion and commitment to the care and well-being of senior residents. Together we make a difference!”

Student placement opportunities are available year-round with Bruce County Long Term Care and Senior Services. High school students and college and university students are welcome to explore a number of health, care, recreation and leisure, food services, dietary, and maintenance learning opportunities that can fulfill their co-op and clinical placement requirements. Joining Bruce County’s team will offer the skills and hands-on experience needed to secure an in-demand career in long term care doing very important work in our community.
