Bruce County Museum to host acclaimed historian and journalist in honour of Remembrance Day

Marking the 85th anniversary of the Battle of Britain and, over the course of 113 harrowing days in 1940, Canadians — some from well-known families, others straight off the farm — took to the skies against overwhelming odds. Twenty pilots were lost in action, and twelve received the Distinguished Flying Cross for their bravery.

In honour of Remembrance Day, the Museum welcomes acclaimed historian and author Ted Barris for a talk on the significant contributions of Canadian airmen to the Battle of Britain during the Second World War.

Barris is an award-winning Canadian author, journalist, and broadcaster best known for his bestselling books on Canadian military history. With a career spanning five decades, he has written 19 books, including The Great Escape: A Canadian Story and Victory at Vimy.

He will share the extraordinary stories of Canadian airmen who played a vital role in defending England during this pivotal Second World War campaign.

A dynamic speaker and former Centennial College professor, Barris brings history to life through storytelling, research, and a deep respect for Canada’s veterans.

Through his engaging storytelling, Barris will bring to life the courage, sacrifice, and resilience of these Canadians who answered the call during one of history’s most critical battles.
