Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board elects new Chair and Trustee

The Bruce-Grey Catholic District School Board (BGCDSB) is pleased to announce the election of Trustee Lori Di Castri as Chair and Trustee Linda Strader as Vice-Chair for the 2024-2025 term. They both held these positions last year so their election this year will provide ongoing stability for the Board. Their leadership will continue to guide the board in its mission to provide quality Catholic education while fostering strong connections with students, families, and communities across the region.

Lori Di Castri, representing Huron-Kinloss, Brockton Ward 31, and Kincardine, brings a wealth of experience and a deep commitment to Catholic education. As Chair, Lori will lead the board in its continued efforts to nurture the spiritual, academic, and personal growth of all students.

“I am honoured to serve as Chair of the Board and to continue to work alongside our dedicated trustees, staff, and families in supporting Catholic education across Bruce and Grey counties,” said Lori Di Castri, Board Chair. “Our focus will remain on fostering an inclusive and faith-filled learning environment that equips every student to achieve their fullest potential.”

Linda Strader, serving Brockton, Ward 34 and 36, has been elected Vice-Chair. Linda’s dedication to the success and well-being of students and staff will strengthen the board’s focus on collaboration and innovation.

“It is a privilege to continue to serve as Vice-Chair and contribute to the important work of our board,” said Linda Strader, Vice-Chair. “Together, we will continue to prioritize the needs of our students and staff, ensuring that our schools are places where faith and learning thrive.”

The BGCDSB Board of Trustees for 2024-2025 includes:

  • Bruce Muise (Owen Sound, Meaford, & the Blue Mountain)
  • Beverley Eckensweiler (Municipality of South Bruce)
  • Lucie Desbiens (Saugeen Shores, Arran-Elderslie, Chatsworth, Georgian Bluffs, & Northern Bruce Peninsula)

Additionally, BGCDSB is proud to have two student trustees: Kate Bester, from Sacred Heart High School in Walkerton, and Vani Mahajan, from St. Mary’s High School in Owen Sound, who bring important student perspectives to board discussions.

Together, the board will continue to foster a vibrant and inclusive Catholic education system, ensuring that each student is nurtured in body, mind, and spirit.
