Bruce Power has announced a four-year, $120,000 commitment to the Canadian Cancer Society’s (CCS) Relay For Life events across Huron and Bruce counties.
The commitment runs from 2019-22, and builds upon the relationship that was established in 2012. By 2022, Bruce Power will have donated $330,000 to local Relay For Life events.
Relay For Life brings together communities, united by the same goal of creating a world where no Canadian fears cancer, said Geoff Van Geem, Senior Manager, Canadian Cancer Society. On Friday, June 7, Goderich will host its 16th annual Relay For Life at Goderich District Collegiate Institute. This event is an opportunity for the community to celebrate those who live and have lived in the face of cancer, and those moving past cancer.
“At CCS, we know that working together is the only way we can achieve all that we do,” Van Geem said. “It’s thanks to corporate partners like Bruce Power that we’re able to host Relay For Life events, which generate significant funds for our organization. Money raised allows us to continue our work of improving the cancer experience by helping people live longer and enhancing their quality of life. We do this by funding ground-breaking research, providing trusted information about cancer, offering programs and services to help people with cancer and help their families cope, and advocating to governments for important social changes.”
Eric Chassard, Bruce Power’s Executive Vice President, Projects and Field Services, said the company is proud to continue its relationship with the CCS and its Relay for Life events.
