Bruce Power is proud to participate as a gold-level sponsor at the 64th annual Wiarton Willie Festival, which will be highlighted by the world-renowned albino groundhog’s prediction at sunrise at the Wiarton Arena on Sunday morning (February 2).
Invited dignitaries, including Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck, and the Wiarton Willie shadow cabinet will be on hand with fingers crossed that Willie doesn’t see his shadow and the spring of 2020 will arrive early.
“The festival is a highlight of our Bruce County winter and one that continues to generate worldwide attention for our wonderful region,” said Rencheck. “It’s an honour for Bruce Power to support the festival and to join the Wiarton community in celebration of Willie’s annual appearance in February.”
The Groundhog Day events are scheduled to begin at 7 a.m. Sunday with fireworks followed by the opening ceremony outside the Wiarton Arena, including “Wake Up Willie” entertainment, an introduction to this year’s shadow cabinet and speeches by Rencheck and other dignitaries.
Willie will make his grand prediction at 8:07 a.m.
