Bruce Power supplier partners donate to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada

In recognition of Brain Tumour Awareness Month in May, Bruce Power’s supplier partners are making a donation of $50,000 to the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada.

Pat Dalzell, Bruce Power’s Head of Corporate Affairs, said the donation will support the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada in providing education, information, research funding and support for those on a journey with a brain tumour.

“Bruce Power is pleased to announce this donation on behalf of its nuclear supply chain partners,” said Dalzell. “Bruce Power and our supply chain are proud to support the important work the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada does to support families in their time of need.

“This donation also aligns with Bruce Power’s role as a global supplier of medical-grade Cobalt-60, which is used to treat brain tumours,” Dalzell continued. “Bruce Power’s nuclear supply chain partners play a key role in supporting our operations, enabling us to ensure doctors and patients have access to medical isotopes when they need them.”

Susan Marshall, Chief Executive Officer of the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada, expressed her appreciation for the donation.

“Every day, 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour, and all face limited treatment options,” Marshall said. “Sadly, they are also the leading cause of cancer death in children. This is why we at Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada are so heartened by the donation made by members of Bruce Power’s supply chain, whose generosity is bringing hope and support to families affected by this devastating disease.”

The Bruce Power Charitable Events Sponsorship Program aligns the company’s vendor partners with local, provincial and national non-profit organizations that focus on Indigenous youth, health and wellness organizations, Canadian veterans and local Legions, food banks, and hospital foundations. More than 30 suppliers supported the Program, which will donate over $500,000 to these initiatives in 2021.
