Bruce Power to host virtual event to celebrate MCR milestones

To celebrate the first anniversary of the company’s Major Component Replacement (MCR) Project and the manufacturing completion of the Unit 6 reactor components, Bruce Power will host a live event on Tuesday, Feb. 23, from 3:30-4:30 p.m.

The Honourable Greg Rickford, Minister of Energy, Northern Development and Mines, and Indigenous Affairs, and Paul Lefebvre, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Natural Resources, will join Bruce Power in thanking the workers and supplier partners who have been instrumental in the project’s continued success. The Hon. Bill Walker, Associate Minister of Energy and MPP for Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound, and Hon. Lisa Thompson, Minister of Government and Consumer Services and MPP for Huron-Bruce, will also express their congratulations for these achievements.

Despite a 50-day delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, a collective effort by Bruce Power employees and partners has allowed the first phase of MCR to stay on track. With a total of 2.1 million hours spent on the project in 2020, the company is also celebrating the completion of manufactured components for the Unit 6 refurbishment.

The public can register for the virtual event at www.brucepower.com/event/mcr/. Following the event, a recording will be available at www.brucepower.com/events.
