As an Irish born citizen of Canada and on St Patrick’s Day, I got to thinking about the question of sovereignty.
Can you imagine how the Irish would have reacted if the British thought about tampering with Irish sovereignty?
Six weeks into all of this, the British Embassy in Ireland would have been burnt to the ground. Actually it already happened in 1972 for a slightly tamer reason!
Canadians need to be more passionate about sovereignty. The old shrill is starting to wear thin …. maybe start by getting our act together on July 1st … but I certainly do not suggest burning down the American Embassy!
