Fundraising numbers continue to climb following the Coldest Night of the Year walk on February 28th (2026).
The Walk, officially sponsored by Safe ‘n’ Sound, raises funds in an effort to alleviate hurt, hunger and homelessness throughout Grey and Bruce Counties, with many other sponsors on board.
The Walk in Saugeen Shores, co-sponsored by Southampton Rotary and the United Way Bruce Grey, began at Lakeshore Recreation Centre where participants and volunteers gathered before the event, and again after for a hot ‘Chili’ dinner donated by the Centre’s owners, Gord and Ann McKay.
Organizer, June Van Bastelaar, thanked the many local sponsors who contributed to the event in Saugeen Shores.

To date, the Saugeen Shores fundraising goal of $60,000 is at 74% ($44,937); Kincardine goal of $40,000 at 95% ($38,195); Meaford goal of $20,00 at 143% ($28,746) and Owen Sound goal of $60,000 at 78% ($46,841).
