On June 17th, 2023, Colorworks Express Autobody Centers and Krown Rust Control of Port Elgin held a Wash-for-a-Wish event. This event raised funds for the Make a Wish Foundation and was a great success in Port Elgin. With this event also came an exciting announcement of a change in ownership.
General Manager Lex Primeau and long-time autobody technician James Dreyer announced they have taken over Colorworks Express Autobody Centers in Port Elgin as the newest Franchisee. President and CEO, Kevin Carter and Executive VP, Jessica Carter were thrilled to welcome the pair into the Franchise during a time of significant momentum for the company. Lex and James plan to continue with the Colorworks values and small-town pride by maintaining the level of excellence you have come to know from your experiences at this shop.
Colorworks has been part of this community for nine years since opening its doors in 2014. Krown Rust Control was added to this business shortly after. Ceramic Pro joined in recent years to make this a one-stop shop for all your autobody needs. Stop by to meet the team and talk to Lex and James about any of your autobody needs!
Alexis (Lex) Primeau
For those of you who may not know me, I am Alexis (Lex) Primeau, one of the newest co-owners of Colorworks Express Autobody Centers in Port Elgin. My various work experiences in the automotive field have led me to this new chapter.
Before living here in Saugeen Shores, I grew up on the Bruce Peninsula until I went to college in Kansas U.S. After college, I worked in Toronto at Sterling Trucks and Thorncrest Ford Dealership before moving to Port Elgin to further my automotive career at the local GM Dealership, Fenton’s Garage. After working for Fenton’s, I moved next door to one of the most successful local garages in town, Rosner’s Service Centre. It was at Rosner’s family-owned and operated business that I learned about what being a business owner in a tight-knit community means.
I started working with Colorworks in 2020 and am excited as a co-owner to be continuing the Colorworks philosophy of being of service to the community. This includes not only providing high-quality repairs and service but giving back to those within Saugeen Shores. The first event that James and I hosted was on June 17th when Colorworks participated in Krown’s “Wash For a Wish” charity car wash. For a minimum donation of $10, you could have your vehicle washed by one of our staff which included James and myself. The absolute best part about this charity event is that 100% of the proceeds from every participating Krown dealership is going to the Make a Wish Foundation of Canada. Thanks to everyone who came out, we were able to raise $1,000! It was at the event, that Colorworks Express Autobody Centers of Port Elgin also announced the exciting change in ownership.
This new chapter is going to be a welcome challenge for me as I am looking forward to extending my knowledge and experience while expanding alongside our growing community that is Saugeen Shores.
James Dreyer
Hi, I’m James Dreyer! I am the new co-owner and lead Autobody Tech at Colorworks Express Autobody Centers and Krown in Port Elgin. I started at Colorworks in 2015 and was working as a Krown Spray Technician. In August of 2021, I became a Red Seal Autobody Technician.
I am originally from Mansfield Ontario, and I grew up working on my family farm. I moved to Port Elgin in 2015 with my wife Kim (Finnie) who was born and raised in Saugeen Shores and we welcomed our first son Dean in 2022. Outside of working on vehicles and chasing around our busy boy, I enjoy playing slow pitch, fishing, hunting, kiteboarding, and snowboarding.
I look forward to continuing to provide our community with all its autobody needs for many years to come.
