Cruise Saugeen Shores takes up where Cruisers’ Night ends

Classic car enthusiasts took part in the 2nd Cruise Saugeen Shores on Thursday evening (Aug. 27) to raise funds for the local Southampton Hospital.

Gathering at the Plex in Port Elgin, the Cruise went on to tour through the streets of Port Elgin and then along the Lake Huron shoreline to Southampton.  The event, organized by Dave Middleton, was to replace the Thursday night car show, Cruisers Night, that has been held in Southampton for many years.

Cruisers Night, held at the big flag in Southampton, was a dedicated fundraiser for the local hospital where classic car owners came from throughout Grey and Bruce to display their vehicles and meet socially with old friends.

At Thursday night’s Cruise Saugeen Shores, more than more 40 classic and show cars participated raising $240 for the Southampton Hospital.

“We thought this was a good idea to carry on the wonderful work that Southampton’s Cruiser’s Night did for the hospital,” said organizer Dave Middleton.  “We have one final event planned this summer for next Thursday, September 3rd, and we hope everyone will come out.  There are several organizations that cannot fundraise and we want to help them so we ask each vehicle owner to donate to the cause.”

The final event will gather at the Plex at 6:30 p.m. with cruising at 7:00 p.m. on September 3rd
