The Student Advisory Council (SAC) of Saugeen District Secondary School (SDSS) in Port Elgin has begun yet another ‘green’ project.
The group, in collaboration with the Ontario Electronics Stewardship (OEC), is working to divert e-waste from the landfill, along with collecting clothing that can no longer be used.
The items will raise money based on weight and the OEC will then return funds to the organization for the charity of their choice. While diverting items from the landfill, the group has chosen as its charity the Paediatric unit at the Owen Sound Regional Hospital for the purchase of two ‘oxygenators’.
From Thursday, May 9th to Friday, May 24th, items can be dropped off at the back corner of the rear parking lot behind the school or pick-ups can be arranged for Saturday, May 11th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. by calling the school at 519-832-2901 Ext. 696/618.
