Each year, the local Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation and Bayshore Broadcasting in Saugeen Shores host the annual Radiothon FUNdraiser in support of the Foundation and local health care.
During the day-long event, donors can contribute by calling into the radio station 97.9 the Bruce directly, dropping by in-person or donating on-line.
For several years, now retired radio celebrity John Divinski hosted the event and, in 2022 although retired, a phone call was received from Darlene Grant of the Lakeshore Recreation Center senior fitness class challenging Divinski. He countered saying that, if the class raised a certain dollar amount, he would commit to taking part in a 45-minute exercise class with them.
They raised the money and Divinski kept his promise. On May 30th, he participated in Tuesday’s 45-minute ‘lighter fitness exercise class’.
