Saugeen Shores Police along with Paramedics and Fire Services rescued a person in distress near Scubby’s Point in Southampton.

Upon arrival at approximately 9:00 p.m., they observed her walking out into Lake Huron.

A uniformed officer, quickly removed his duty belt, vest and boots and entered the water to prevent the female from drowning.
After a brief struggle and assistance of a firefighter from a kayak provided by a bystander, they were able to bring the female to shore on the Saugeen River where an ambulance was waiting.
The female was taken to hospital along with the officer where they were treated for hypothermia and released.
