The holiday season is always a busy time but at Elgin Lodge in Port Elgin it’s also a festive time.
On Saturday, November 29th, Elgin Lodge held not one but two events with a simultaneous Open House and Christmas Market.
“The residents were ready and willing to help with the decorating,” said Ann-Marie Collins, Marketing Director, “and it was a lot of fun for everybody.”
During the Open House, Collins led visitors on tours through the various suites. “Not only did we take visitors through, but some of the residents also wanted to see some of the other suites that we have. I think they may have been looking for decorating tips,” she smiled.

While the tours were being carried out, the annual Christmas Market was also buzzing with activity. Tables were filled with many handcrafted items perfect for gift giving and that appealed to every taste along with delicious baked goods.
Ruth’s Creations that include crocheted slippers, scarves, hats, hand-carved angels and nativity sets among others, is also about giving back. All money raised through the sale of her items goes to the local Food Bank. She offers in-home sales at events or at a business and can be contacted at 519-832-5645.
