Tracy Murray, Executive Director of the Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation, is excited that fundraising for the 2023 Gran Fondo has begun.
“We so much appreciate that one of our premier sponsors, the Society of United Professionals (SUP), continues to come on board. It’s organizations like this that demonstrate how the community comes together and they (SUP) are always one of the first to step up.”

“We are pleased to help fund this popular event that plays a key role for our hospital and keeping health care close to home,” said Matt Barfoot. “Also as a cyclist, I think this is so important, not only as a fundraiser, but to also raise awareness about cycling when it comes to health and physical fitness.”
Tracy also added that this year’s Gran Fondo will be “… bigger and better than ever. We are going to hold additional events over the week, such as the Bruce County Bash musical extravaganza on the Saturday. We have already sold more than half the tickets to the Bruce County Bash that will take place on Saturday, August 19th.”
The Gran Fondo will be held on August 20th, 2023
Since its start in 2018, (no event in 2020 and a small virtual event in 2021 due to Covid) riders and sponsors in the Gran Fondo Lake Huron, presented by Bruce Power & Suppliers have raised over $843,000 and, this year, fundraising will mean that all fundraising riders will have raised over $1 million dollars which goes directly to the hospital. You’ve helped fund numerous life-saving items like defibrillators, crash carts and cardiac monitors, not to mention finishing off the CT scanner campaign last year with your fundraising.
When you register for the Gran Fondo Lake Huron you are signing up for a fundraising mission first and a bike ride second. We strongly encourage participants to fundraise a minimum of $200. It’s easier than you think! Once you start sharing the link with friends, family and co-workers to your personal fundraising page that automatically generates in race roster when your register you’ll be well on your way to meeting or easily surpassing that fundraising goal.
100% of every rider-raised dollar goes directly toward the fundraising initiatives detailed on our fundraising goal for the year.
