Gail Elizabeth Streeter – December 19, 2018

Gail Elizabeth Streeter, cherished wife of George William (Bill) Streeter and daughter of Nellie and Stan Perry passed away peacefully at 9:35 in the morning on Wednesday, December 19th at Owen Sound General Hospital at the age of 73 with her children and husband at her side.

Gail lived in Southampton since 2010 but had spent summers in town since childhood, meeting her future husband in July of 1962 at the bowling alley on Southampton’s Main Beach.

Born in Galt and living in Guelph for her young life, Gail moved to Toronto after she and Bill were married in 1965, and remained in the GTA before making his hometown their full-time residence.

The two traveled extensively throughout their life together seeing sites and experiencing cultures on six continents including a Kenya-Tanzania safari in 2008.

A longtime curler and lawn bowler, Gail was also active in the community as an artist and quilter, her work adorns the walls and beds of her friends’ and family’s homes across the country.

In addition to her husband and mother, Gail is survived by her children, son Blair, who is married to Marianne Gibson of Toronto, daughter Paula, whose husband is Alec Lavictoire of Orangeville, four grandchildren who she adored, Benjamin, Ocean, Caleb and Luc, as well as three siblings Helen McKinnon and Paul Perry of Guelph and Jean Morrison of Southampton. Gail’s love was also passed down to dozens of nieces and nephews and scores of friends.

A celebration of Gail’s life will be held at Southampton Golf and Country Club in Southampton on Saturday, December 29th at 12:30 to 3:30pm with eulogies starting at 2. Donations to Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada and The Saugeen Memorial Hospital Foundation will be appreciated in lieu of flowers.
